Happy Birthday to me!

Well actually my birthday is Saturday but I don't know when I'll have internet again so I'm posting this video for my mom and dad to see. I will go back to blogging in order but I just wanted to do this. I am getting my 1st haircut in about 5 months tomorrow, then shopping with Eric and a friend until Eric can't stand shopping anymore and then Sunday we are going to a festival. I'm probably going to bake both brownies and cheesecake. So anyway enjoy my birthday video.

Oh and as a birthday present to me you should all watch one of my favorite youtube videos.
You gotta watch at least until the 1 minute mark, that's when it gets pretty awesome.

And a quick picture of me looking french with my baguette!
Thanks everyone see you next week!

Austria

I spent 2 days in Salzburg, Austria. My 1st day I wandered around and got lost. Then bought tickets to a marionette puppet show of "The Magic Flute" I didn't get a choice what show to see, I would have chosen the Sound of Music puppet show, but this is the city of Mozart's birth and he is pretty big here so I think the show was from his music. It was interesting. I wasn't allowed to take pictures...but I'm sure I have a few.

I spent the night in a really nice hostel. One that showed the Sound of Music every morning. I went on two tours my second day. 1st was the Sound of Music tour, 2nd was a tour of the Salzburg salt mines. (Salz means salt.) The Sound of Music was ok, but I loved the salt mines, I even got to lick the wall of the mine and taste salt! (Yes, there is a picture.)

Ok so 1st the highlights from the Sound of Music tour:
This is one of the places the Sound of Music was filmed in Mirabell Gardens with Maria and the children running through this tunnel singing "Do-Re-Mi"
This is the gazebo where Liesl and Rolf sang "16 going on 17" It looks smaller than the one in the movie b/c when they were dancing inside, that was a sound stage in Hollywood. Also the gazebo was built next to the house used in the film and the people liked it so much they jokingly said you should leave it here, and they did. But then they had to move it the house is now used for seminars and people were climbing over the wall day and night to see the gazebo and it was disturbing the seminars and they had to move it. Also we couldn't go inside the gazebo because a few years ago an 80 year old woman fell and broke her hip leaping from bench to bench singing I am 16 going on 17. This is where the children and Maria fell in the water while talking to Capt. Von Trapp but this is not the back of the house used for filming because the Austria authorities freaked out when they saw how many people were in the house for the filming and kicked them all out, so they had to use a different house. This is the inside of the church where Maria and the Captain were married. This is the little statue that Gretel pats on the head while they are singing "Do-Re-Mi"

Also I'd like to blog about the saltmines but once again the library is going to kick me out soon so you will just have to check out the captions on the facebook album.

Oh and a few videos. We had a very "interesting" tour guide. Oh and get this! He grew up in Aiken, SC. He asked me where I was from and I said SC. And he said "What part?" (When you are in Europe and someone wants to know what city in SC, they are clearly very familiar with SC.) Anyway, when I told him, he then began to talk in a very hick accent. I asked him "Which accent is fake?" He spoke German with an Austrian accent and he also spoke perfect hick. But I think both were legit.

That's right, I asked a stranger to take this picture of me in the saltmines. Enjoy!
Seriously, you have to check out the facebook album of the rest of the saltmine pictures it was one of my favorite parts of the trip.

Greece

Here are a few of my favorite pictures from Greece. An update on me is below the pictures and videos. Enjoy!

This is Prevali, one of my favorite places in Greece.
I can't believe plants can grow like this.
No rain makes for very interesting plants.

I wouldn't feel right about leaving Greece if I didn't take this picture.
And another one of my favorite pictures from the trip.

This is my 1st sighting of Greece from the plane.

Where we stayed...

Hi, ok so I'm in France now staying with my brother. My brother was studying for the 1st part of the year and now he is doing an internship. I am staying at the (translated) Hall of Young Workers, it is like a dorm. So its nice to be around lots of young people and be able to walk to things near by. The only time I have internet is when I am at the library so mostly between 2 & 6 pm my time (6 hours ahead, so 8 am to 12 pm for you U.S.)

Now to catch up on blogging. Greece, Austria & then France...Greece 1st.

I would also like to point out my special super-sun-block-applying powers, resulting in me never getting sunburnt while in Greece. I have a wonderful non-peeling tan.

aggg, I have 30 minutes left before the library closes and I am determined to get one blog up!
(I didn't manage to do it, my 200 pictures decided to not load, even after I sat outside of the library after closing, still using the internet.)

ok so some videos...

This was really cool. We took a day trip to Prevali, we followed a river until we couldn't anymore.
We climbed over rocks, jumped off rocks, swam between rocks and on and on.

We also saw wild goats in Prevali.

We passed this exclusive resort where you have to own stock in the hotel to stay there.
We just laughed at their water workout on our way to Ammoudi Bay. I'm not 100% sure
I spelled that right but it was really cool there. I don't have any pictures because it
was so hot I thought the camera would melt to my fingers if I pulled it out.
Beatrice's mom does have some pictures of us jumping off a "cliff" but when
we saw the pictures later I was like "Oh man, we were only like 3 feet above the water."
I'll try and get my hands on those pics.

The whole reason for going to Greece....for me.

And now for a facebook album...the library has closed but I am still sitting outside
using their internet so we'll see how long this lasts...
(didn't work, I had to finish the next day)

Here's the facebook album of pictures. You don't have to be a member to view them.
Keep in mind that I took over 1,000 and now there are only 200, so this is the best of the best in my opinion.
If there is enough demand I will make a smaller purely highlights album.

There are a lot more details about the trip written in the comments under the pictures so I hope you enjoy!
